Why and How do things Change?
Over time, change occurs with the influence and production of new ideas, new people, new technology, and improvements. In the 1920s, flappers, African Americans, gangsters, ideas of evolution, airplanes, the theory of relativity, and the KKK proved to be the new things that brought change to this nation. The change in America was brought along by the change in culture as the new younger generation conflicted with the old bringing much change to America.
The Roaring 20s
Change here and change there. The 1920s were full of change, ranging from culture, alcohol, women, and music. The twenties were a time of revitalization and starting a new era. The young boys and girls of this age were deemed the responsibility of changing the United States as we know it. Women's rights, a new music called jazz , the KKK, and the 18th Amendment led to much tension between the old and new causing the conflict. The 1920s were to forever be called the Roaring Twenties for the amazing changes and tension brought along with it.
Big Question
Were the Roaring Twenties a social change from the old Victorian era to the new modern world?
The twenties was a social change that moved away from the old ways, fashions, styles, music, culture, and social structure. This new era of the Twenties was to be an era of fun and enjoyment empowered by the young men and women changing the world step by step. They wished to be new and young and be different from the traditional values of America. The Victorian era ideas still lingered as seen in the intolerance of immigrants and blacks, the traditional view of women, and the prohibition movement. These ideas overtime were eventually put aside as the new ideas and attitudes replaced the old. As the era of the twenties came to a close, the new modern world was seen everywhere completely leaving the Victorian era behind.
